On October 30, 2022, Brazil witnessed an unanticipated tight election. The former left-wing President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defeated his rival and the sitting President Jair Bolsonaro in a close race. Brazilians are set to have another Lula administration. In this interview with Maria Hermínia Tavares de Almeida, a popular Brazilian political scientist and scholar, we discussed this election and its implications for Brazil’s domestic and foreign policy and further its impact on the world.
